Local Libraries

Libraries are a great place to introduce your little ones to the world of reading, as well as giving yourself a hobby too, if you feel like taking out some books for you to read. Although books aren't too pricey, there's often wonderful selections in your local libraries if you take the time to browse through. We've found that Hyphen - Wodonga Library especially, has a few of the newer children's books in their collection, which stops me expanding our ever-growing collection for a while!

We've been doing the 1000 Books before School challenge since November last year, and we've read over 100 so far! Hunter loves to have a story before bed as part of his night time routine, and reading to kids really helps with their vocabulary, as well as their imagination.

As well as the books aspect, there's often exhibitions on in the galleries. Sometimes they're aimed at the kids, other times for the grown ups. The ones at Hyphen change every couple of months, which is great as it's the library that's closest to us. A lot of them are interactive, and Hunter always loves checking out what's new on our days off together.

All three libraries have fantastic public toilets as well which is always an added bonus, as well as lift access for those with mobility issues or parents with prams. There's PC's you can use for work or study as well, and they're all free to enter. Another great bonus is that each one is either next to, or very close to a cafe, so you can grab a bite to eat before or after your visit. Wodonga library has Ploughman's, Albury has Retro Lane Cafe, and Lavington has The Baker @ Northpoint and Daily Grind, which are both nearby, however, Lavington Square is within walking distance with more food and drink choices inside the plaza.

Feel free to scroll and read about each one in more detail by clicking on the links.
