About us & FAQ’s

Welcome to Life with the Lamsays - The modern family you love to follow!

Where does the name Lamsay come from?

It’s a mashup of both of our last names, and it sounds a lot nicer than The Rambings, don’t you think? It also gives us a sense of privacy, not using our real surname/s. Although, we still have lots of our readers come up to us and say hi in public, which is totally fine - we love meeting people who we’ve helped by starting this little community!

When did we start Life with the Lamsays?

We started our Instagram account, @lifewiththelamsays, to document our IVF journey with Hunter back in 2020. We began by just posting little updates every now and again, and connecting with other likeminded families on there. Then, a couple of years later, once Hunter was a bit older, and post pandemic, we started exploring more. We created both the LWTL blog and our Facebook page in February 2023, so we could share our journey and adventures with the local community.

Where can you find us?

As well as having the website here, we also have a Facebook page - Life with the Lamsays, and our Instagram account is still slowly growing too. I'm always posting new things to see & do in and around the local area, so you'll never be stuck for ideas. Out and about in the real world, if a new park opens, you bet we'll be there. And if it's a long weekend, we'll probably be headed somewhere out of town, or we'll be on the train exploring something new in Melbourne.

Our blog & Facebook page have both grown exponentially over the last year or so (we've almost doubled our Facebook page following in the last 6 months!), and we have a lot of new readers on the scene. So I thought it was about time I wrote a page about who we are, and what we are all about.

We’re a two mum family in Albury Wodonga, and we have a kindergarten aged son who loves to keep busy and have fun. We love to travel when we can, between work and school. Usually we do out of town trips to surrounding areas, but we head to Melbourne fairly often too so we can enjoy the family friendly options that the city has to offer. They have epic playgrounds, zoos/animal farms, huge indoor play areas, and great food. The train fares are cheap too, making public transport a much more affordable option, and you don't need to worry about parking when you get there either.

We also travelled all the way to Sydney back in April, and we were based in Parramatta. From there, we explored the surrounding areas and checked out some awesome indoor and outdoor playspaces there - Hunter had an absolute ball and loved catching the trains too!

I'm (Poppy) originally from the UK, and Chelle was born here in Australia. We’ve been together for 10 years, and our son Hunter was conceived through IVF in 2020. Now that he’s older, we’re looking forward to traveling further, and seeing more places. We’re also keen to go on more trail walks and see more of nature once the weather warms up a bit.

After visiting some wonderful play spaces in AW and the surrounding areas, we started writing here in February 2023, and our goal is to inspire families to get out there and explore. Since publishing out first write up, it has almost surpassed 4000 views - making it the most popular one on our blog so far.

We love to check out new parks that pop up in Albury Wodonga, we go to new cafes that open and see what they have to offer. There is so much to do, you just need to know where to look. I often hear people say that there's nothing to do on the border, and that they're bored, their kids are bored, yet they have no idea about the variety of family-friendly fun there is nearby. We've had so much positive feedback, both online and in person, that our blog has helped parents find cool new parks to take their kids to, and it feels really good to know that the effort that goes into this website is paying off!

In April we sent out the first issue of our monthly newsletter as well, which gives a brief summary of what we’ve been up to, as well as new businesses that have popped up, cheap/free activities for the kids, and the opportunity for local businesses to advertise too. We are constantly growing our mailing list, so email us at thelamsays@outlook.com to either receive the newsletter, or feature in a future issue.

We love helping people find resources that will save them time and money, whether that be things to do around the local area, services offered by businesses or organisations, or just crafty & creative things to do at home with the kids.

If you’d like to support us further, please head to our Facebook page, Life with the Lamsays, and follow us over there too!
