I, DJ exhibition at Hyphen Gallery Wodonga VIC - Life with the Lamsays

“Never before seen in Australia, I, DJ by Dr Richard Savery brings the worlds of creativity, music, robotics and artificial intelligence together in this interactive installation.”

Make sure you head over to Hyphen in Wodonga these school holidays to check out their new exhibit in the Playspace Gallery upstairs. I, DJ by Richard Savery is a really cool, interactive display with a robot called Kerizo who raps and plays the drums. With a single word or phrase, Keirzo can produce an original rap in real time.

There’s touch sensors you use for different robots so you can create various melodies and rhythms. Hunter was entranced by the lights and sounds, and loved watching the robots play music. He got Keirzo to do a rap about his favourite colour, red.

Some things to note about the exhibit: The room has low ambient light with bright coloured lights and a neon sign, and there are 3 robots in the gallery with controllers on the wall, which will help you interact with the Robots with flashing lights.

It can sometimes be busy, noisy and loud in the Playspace Gallery. So if you have noise sensitivities, you may like to bring some things with you to help you enjoy the experience. However, we were the only ones there for most of our visit, which was nice!

Entry is FREE, and there’s a lift if you’re not able to use the stairs, which is great for parents with prams as well as those with mobility issues.

To see what else is on at Hyphen soon, check out one of our recent posts and don’t forget to sign up to our monthly newsletter in the sidebar so you don’t miss out on what’s happening on the border!

Until next time!
