Attending a Reggio Emilia inspired day care centre

The Reggio Emilia approach. It’s an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education that values the child as a strong, capable and resilient human being, rich with wonder and knowledge.

Hunter is about to start at a new day care, which is a Reggio Emilia inspired centre, which focuses on children’s lifelong journey of learning. They have tables with loose parts on them, a nice calm reading nook, as well as the belief that the children learn about things that they’re interested in - and they cater the activities to things the children might have done over the weekend etc.

We’ve done two orientation sessions, and the centre is absolutely beautiful. It’s only a few years old as well, and they appear to have so many great resources for the little ones. The educators all seem really great, the kids can go inside and outside as they please, and they also have a few of the books we have at home - one of them being  ‘Families - All That You Dream It To be’ by Teeny Tiny Stevie’s. It’s great they have books about different kinds of families, like ours.

For privacy reasons, I’m not going to name the centre Hunter will be attending, but we’re all so excited for him to start, and in comparison to his old centre, it seems like he’ll thrive even more here. Because Nanny was already working at the other one, we had his name down before he was born, and didn’t go and visit any other centres. But this one is amazing!

Until next time!
