Reading the Teeny Tiny Stevies books

We’ve been reading a story before ours naps and at bedtime recently, and one of Hunter’s favourites is ‘Family All That You Dream It To Be’ by Byll and Beth Stephen from Teeny Tiny Stevies. Teeny Tiny Stevies are an ARIA Award-winning Australian children's music group established in 2015 by sisters Bethany 'Beth' and Sibylla 'Byll' Stephen. They have an ABC Kids TV show too, and these books are about songs from the show.

We managed to pick up two of them in the last few days, so we’re keen to read them soon! I’ll also do another post on some other books that we love to read too, so if you’re a parent looking for some new book ideas, stay tuned for that.

Family All That You Dream It To Be “You love who you love, and you build a great team, because family's all that you dream it to be.”  This book is about how families may look different to yours, but all that you need is love. Hunter loved seeing the two mums and two dad families, and he’d say “Mummy & Mumma” and “Daddy and Dad” - it was really cute!

Boss Of Your Own Body “You're not the boss of many things because you're little and still learning. You're not the boss of anyone else, you've got to let them be themselves. But you ARE the boss of one thing.”  This book is about having autonomy of your body, and that even though you don’t have control of everything, you have control of your body. Hunter is getting to the bossy stage, and as frustrating as that is sometimes, it’s good to teach him from a young age about consent and knowing that he’s the boss of his body.

How Brave I Can Be “You've got my back, and I know that I've got this, I'll show you how brave I can be. ‘Cause I had you to teach me.” This book is all about being brave, as the title suggests. We haven’t read this one yet, but Hunter is going through a stage of being scared of dragons and ghosts, so hopefully this helps him.

Sleep Through The Night “Some species sleep wherever they choose to roam, but human beings sleep the very best when they are home.” This is a book to help kids get settled at night, and about sleeping through. Hunter sleeps in his bed until midnight, and then usually comes into our bed for the rest of the night. Let’s hope this book helps!

Happy reading guys, and if you read any of these, let me know your thoughts in the comments!

 Until next time!
