Wodonga Sports & Leisure Centre - Life with the Lamsays

We went for our first swim at the leisure centre since the completion of the new changing rooms. The family ones look great, and there’s new showers and toilets in the cubicles too which is really nice.

The pool was nice and warm today, it was like stepping into a big hot bath, and little man had an absolute ball splashing around.

Hunter and I go for an assisted swim, which is $5.90, and usually stay for about an hour. There’s a baby pool, a shallow pool for the slightly bigger kids, and then a lane pool. There’s also a jacuzzi and a sauna room that you can use, which would be nice to make use of if I went by myself one day.

They offer swimming lessons, there’s a gym at the leisure centre, sports halls you can hire, and both aquatic and gym classes you can attend. There’s kids sports that are on, and there’s a cafeteria up the top (which is closed more than it’s open). I used to do a ladies boxing at the centre when I was in high school, and our niece has just started doing junior basketball after school - so there’s a good selection, just have a look at their Facebook page and check out what’s on. Or give them a call to see what they offer. They have some great facilities there, and it’s perfect for us to go for a swim at this pool, because it’s about a 5 minute walk from home.

They’re also next to Birallee Shopping Centre, the Birallee Tavern is across the way, and McDonald’s is nearby too.

Whilst the centre could still do with some new upgrades, and since posting this write up, a fair few locals have had some suggestions, it's perfect for what we need it for. Hopefully now that the change rooms have been done, there'll be more upgrades in the works for the future.

Until next time!
