Our trip to Sydney, NSW - Life with the Lamsays

So we’ve spent the week in Sydney, more specifically the Parramatta/Fairfield area. We’ve caught buses and trains, and travelled to different shopping centres, outdoor playgrounds, indoor playspaces, and we’ve had so much fun! I was going to write individual posts for the places we’ve visited, but thought it’d be an easier read to have it all in one place, as I know a few mums have told me they’re off to Sydney later on in the year, so here we go…

The Auburn Botanic Gardens was highly recommended by a lot of mamas in the Western Sydney Mums group, so we had a wander round before Mumma started the first day of her course. The Japanese Garden there is beautiful, and they have a small all-abilities playground there too, with toilets nearby. Definitely make sure you go here too if you’re in the area.

We went to Flip Out in Blacktown, which Hunter absolutely loved - they had a ninja warrior section, a parkour bit, as well as a soft play section for the little ones and trampolines in a few different sections. We also went to Ultimate Family Entertainment Centre, which was epic - it had a younger kids soft play area, as well as a bigger kids section, a foam bit, lots of trampolines, and it was so busy in there that I was worried I’d lose Hunty, so I followed him around.

For playgrounds, we went to Ollie Webb Reserve in Parramatta which was awesome, even without the water park section being on, Hunter enjoyed trying out the different bits of equipment, and playing in the sandpit with lots of other little people. We also visited a couple of different playgrounds in Fairfield - Fairfield Adventure Playground and Fairfield Heights Playground.

Despite going to all of these wonderful places, I think Hunter’s favourite was the McDonald’s PlayPlace at Arndell Park. It was huge, there were a few older kids there who were more than happy to run around with him playing zombies, and he was way more interested in playing than eating his food! We’ve now been to 14 McDonald’s PlayPlaces on our travels.

Speaking of food, we tried a few different places to eat too, since we don’t have a microwave, or any way to cook anything other than noodles in our hotel room. We loved Tam Tam, a Vietnamese restaurant across the road from our hotel - it was DELICOUS and we had it twice! We tried deep dish pizza, which wasn’t as good as it looked, and we had Guzman Y Gomez for our first night, and that was really nice. On Thursday night, we went out to dinner in the city with family at Bar Luca, a burger joint with a yummy appetiser menu as well. I think we tried most of them between the 9 of us! Loaded fries, fried cauliflower bites, Mac & cheese, onion rings, corn ribs & more! It was also great to catch up with my Auntie, cousins, and their partners - Hunter enjoyed being the centre of attention and climbing in everyone’s laps.

All in all, we’ve had a busy, but great time away. We’ve explored a fair bit, and I managed to get Hunter and I on and off the public transport without getting lost (thanks to the Transit app). It’s been two years since we were last here, so we better not leave it that long again!

This is our last night, and tomorrow we’ll hit the beach at Dolls Point before heading home. We’ve been fortunate to have so much hope weather during our stay, and today has been the only cooler day. Make sure you’re following us over on Instagram as well to watch our reels & see more of our holiday snaps (@lifewiththelamsays).

Until next time!
