National Gallery of Victoria - RIFIFI: Jean Jullien for Kids Exhibit, Melbourne - Life with the Lamsays

Today we went to the National Gallery of Victoria in Southbank, Melbourne, and we checked out the RIFIFI exhibition by Jean Jullien.

It was such a colourful, fun exhibit with lots of interactive bits for the little ones to do. There was a huge screen to watch and it played a cartoon about different creatures that live in the ocean. There were pens and colouring in sheets so you could colour in your own fish, buckets you could walk around with, costumes you could put on! It was conveying the importance of protecting the ocean and marine life and allowed you to be creative and respond to the artist’s imagery by drawing your own sea creatures.

The layout was almost like a big circle, so little man could run round and round, without getting too disoriented. It was quite busy, as they extended it during the school holidays. It’s great for all ages really, but there were so many kids loving it - it was great to watch.

Entry to the National Gallery of Victoria is FREE, so if you’re either in the area, or thinking of visiting, make sure you check out what else they have on.

After racing around and soaking in all the cartoon fish and excitement, we grabbed a coffee at the gallery too whilst Hunter found some little friends to play with and ran around some more.

We’d definitely go here again, so we’ll keep an eye out for more exhibits in the future, and we’d probably have a look around at other things that are on there. However, obviously an art gallery is tricky with little kids as not all areas are designed to be touched.

Until next time!
