Cross Keys Reserve Playground, Essendon VIC - Life with the Lamsays

What an amazing playground! We checked out Cross Keys Reserve in Essendon today since we’re in Melbourne for a few days. This park is a relatively new one, with so much for kids to do, and was another Mamma Knows North recommendation.

The main climbing frame, although big in size, was perfect for Hunter to climb all by himself! He loved shooting out the end of the swirly slide, and was only just too short to reach the binoculars to look out.

Aside from the main equipment, there was also a cafe with a table and stools, a pet shop, a fuel pump, and a traffic park section with some road signs so kids can race round on their bikes or scooters.

Hunter loved playing shop keeper and serving us coffee, and then Nana Sue and I pretended to be cars lining up at the servo, and Hunty did a great job using the petrol pump. It really let his role playing skills shine through, and he had a great time!

The cute animal statues made of wood were really cool too, and Hunter loved the cute spider. There was just so much to do at this playground, and it’s definitely one we’d go back to. It also had a set of swings, because everyone loves the swings at the park.

It’s not fully fenced, but because it’s on a reserve, it’s far enough away from the main road. There’s toilets nearby but they’re not always open, but it’s definitely one we’d highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area.

Until next time!
