WAVES Outdoor Pool, Wodonga - Life with the Lamsays

What better way to spend your Sunday morning than by going to WAVES outdoor pool in Wodonga? They have an awesome splash park with a big bucket, a tube slide, a couple of other slides so you can race down them together, and various other kinds of sprinklers and water play equipment.

Perfect for little ones, and plenty of room if the grown ups want to have a go too. However they also have the big lane pool so you can enjoy a proper swim as well.

We thought we’d beat the heat and go as soon as they opened at 9am. The disappointing thing was that there was bird/duck faeces all over the splash park floor, as well as on the walls in the toddler pool. There were a fair few other families who seemed to have the same idea of going to the pool early with their really little bubs, and they were hesitant to let them play there as well. It’s a shame it wasn’t cleaned up prior to the pool opening, and when the staff were advised of this, it still took almost an hour for them to make a move on getting rid of it.

Once some of it was washed away by the bucket, we then got to have a play, and once it heated up a bit, we got icy poles from the canteen!

All in all, a great place to take the kids for a swim, with some freedom for them to play without being attached to your hip the whole time. I just think maintenance needs some work, especially given that the pool has a later opening time on Sunday’s, allowing plenty of time to clean prior to opening. Hopefully next time we go there for a swim, it’ll be ready to go as soon as the gates open.

 Until next time!
