Poppy & family - Mums on the Border - Life with the Lamsays

Before we kick off our Mums on the Border series starting next week, I thought I’d do a little post about us for all of our new readers!

We’re the Lamsays, a two mum family - Poppy, originally from the U.K, and Chelle, an Albury Wodonga local, born and bred. I (Poppy) originally lived in Townsville in North Queensland when I first moved to Australia, before my dad got posted to Wodonga with the army. Fortunately, that was the final move after going to 15 schools, but making lots of friends all over England, Scotland, and now Australia. Chelle has lived in Melbourne, as well as living in Buderim near Noosa in Queensland, and Clarkson, which is just outside of Perth in Western Australia.

We went on our first holiday together in mid 2015 and flew to Adelaide. It was so clean and quiet, but the supermarkets shut early which was something we weren’t used to. There were beautiful beaches around us, and we’d love to go back at some point for a family holiday.

We also went on a couple of camping holidays together to Apollo Bay and Narooma in 2017, and we’d love to go back there one day too as a family if 3 (4 if you count our dog Luna).

In 2019 we began our IVF journey, and were fortunately successful on our first try, falling pregnant in early 2020, and giving birth to our son in November that year. Whilst travel was put on hold due to the pandemic, it gave us time to focus on motherhood.

However, now that travelling is allowed, and little man is 3 years old, we've made an effort to get out there and visit lots of the regional towns surrounding Albury Wodonga: Bright, Beechworth, Corowa, Howlong, Mansfield, Wangaratta, Wagga Wagga, Yarrawonga, with more trips planned in the future.

This blog was started in February 2023 to encourage families to enjoy all that this region has to offer. It’s been going for almost a year now, and this seems like the right time to introduce some fresh ideas and new faces.

So follow along each Monday, starting next week, to read more about other families in our Mums on the Border community, and see what adventures they get up to as well. We have posts about things to do in Melbourne with the kiddos, beach holidays, book recommendations and more!

 Until next time!
