Melbourne Zoo - Life with the Lamsays

We’ve done two trips to Melbourne Zoo, once in July 2022, and our most recent visit was June this year. The first time, it was just us three, Hunter was a lot younger and he was more than happy to sit in the pram, or wander slowly to look at everything. This year through, we met my siblings there and had them to help, and wow I’m so glad we did. He was racing off left right and centre, he absolutely loves animals, and loves going to the zoo, so he was a big ball of energy and I didn’t realise quite how fast he can run until then!

We took Hunter to the Sydney Zoo at the start of last year too, but again, he was much smaller, and calmer back then, so despite the hot weather we had, it was a much more relaxing wander around looking at all the animals and taking it all in.

They have a cool kids area in the Melbourne Zoo, where the little ones can play dress ups, colour in, and just have fun! We didn’t go in that part last time, but Hunty loved it the first time round. I think he would’ve been happy to spend his whole time in there to be honest. We saw so many animals: lions, giraffes, lemurs, zebras, monkeys and so much more!

Despite the pricey entry fee, and the part every parent dreads at the end - the gift shop, if you spend most of the day here, you definitely get your money’s worth, and you’ll wear everyone out too - it’s a win win really. They also have a few choices for things to eat there, so you won’t be hungry either.

If you happen to be in Melbourne and you’re looking for something fun to do with your animal loving little one, definitely check out the zoo!

Until next time!
