Visiting the Melbourne Museum & Children’s Gallery

After catching the early morning train to Melbourne yesterday morning, and getting settled in to my parents house where we’re staying, we headed out to go to the Melbourne Museum. We caught a tram, which Hunter loved, as he hadn’t been on one since our trip to Sydney which was two years ago!

We went with my mum and brother, who are both concession card holders, and Hunter is young enough to get in for free too, so it was only $15 for me to get in. We headed straight to the dinosaur exhibition, and whilst it was awesome to see all the dinosaur bones, Hunter was quite upset that there weren’t any real ones there. However, they had an interactive bit where they were projected on to the wall and floor, and he was mesmerised by it. I think he would have stayed there all day honestly.

Then we headed to The Pauline Gandel Children’s Gallery, which had a little outdoor section, as well as indoor. There was a playground, and lots of interactive bits in it - colouring in a butterfly on the screen, spinning different wheels, little circle windows with bugs in them etc. Luckily it wasn’t too packed, but there were lots of little bubs crawling around, and Hunter just wanted to run wild. If you’re in, or heading to, Melbourne, I’d definitely recommend checking this part of the museum out. When it’s busy though, they only let a certain amount of people through at a time, and with it being school holidays in Victoria soon, it’ll probably be packed.

Of course you have to exit the museum via the gift shop, but luckily Hunter was only interested in finding somewhere to grab a rainbow ice cream, so after a brief look, we cruised through the store unscathed - phew! Stay tuned to read all about our next Melbourne adventure, as we’re headed to a community farm today.

 Until next time!
