Edendale Community Farm, Eltham - Life with the Lamsays

We’re back from Melbourne now, so I thought it was about time I wrote another post about what we got up to other than the museum.

On Wednesday we visited the Edendale Community Farm, and the weather was absolutely beautiful. Hunter enjoyed feeding the chickens, which he says were his favourite animal at the farm. He also got to pet sheep, ducks, and they even had a worm farm. His favourite book at the moment is called Harriet’s Hungry Worms by Samantha Smith. So he was over the moon that he could see a worm garden for real life, and he says he  saw worm wee too! If you don’t have this book, and your little one is fascinated with worms too, jump online and get it!

They had a little cafe there, so we got coffees, teas and scones, and enjoyed them in the sunshine. They also have a little gift shop, and I regret not grabbing the book they had in store there about a cow with one horn.

On our way out, we spotted that they had little clipboards so kids can do a little animal hunt and tick off the animals that they find - maybe if we visit again, we’ll make sure we do that with little man.

After we walked around the farm and had a bite to eat, we headed over the bridge and Hunter had a play at the park he’s been talking about since we said we were coming here - the tractor park - aka, Edendale Adventure Playground.

It was huge, and Hunter had an absolute ball getting his Auntie and Uncle to follow him around, and push him on the swings. He climbed up the ropes, and loved going down the slide over and over.

This is definitely a place I’d recommend visiting if you’re in this part of Melbourne. My mum suggested going here, and Mamma Knows North also has a couple of posts about both the farm and the playground. Make sure you check out her blog too if you’re looking for some great places to take your kids in North Melbourne. If you’re looking for some inspiration for things to do with your little ones in Melbourne in general, check out Mamma Knows Melbourne

We visited a few more playgrounds during our time in Melbourne, so stay tuned for more posts about those!

Until next time!
