Our Easter artwork tradition

This weekend, we continued our little tradition of getting Hunter outside to do some Easter artwork for our family and friends.

We got lots of different paints out of the cupboard, and Hunty was able to name all the colours. He had so much fun getting creative using tools & sponges to create different effects on his decorations, and we put an art smock on him that came in the set we got. The paints wash off really easily, so you could just do it with nothing on, but the smock just really adds to the artistic vibe we were going with.

We got our wooden Easter decorations from Kmart, and they came in packs of two. We got the eggs and the bunnies, and we also have some other decorations to do - but that was plenty for today. The paint we used was water based and non-toxic, so it didn’t matter if Hunter got it everywhere! It was so nice just watching him figure out how to use the different tools, and mixing the colours together. It kept us all entertained for a while, and because it was so nice outside, the paintings didn’t take long to dry either.

Last Easter, Hunter painted a little plant pot so he could grow something alongside all of Nanny’s succulents in the garden. He was a bit messier than this year, but he still had his serious concentration face on.

Below are a couple of photos from Hunter’s first Easter, where we used the same kind of paints. We set him up in his little bumbo seat on the picnic mat outside. He loved getting messy, as you can tell, but it was definitely something we knew we wanted to continue in the following years! The first year we got plain love heart canvas’ from Kmart which were really cute, and we made pastel colours mixing in white to all of the colours we chose!

This is a great way to have some family bonding time, letting your kid explore and get creative, whilst also creating some nice Easter gifts for your family and friends. It doesn’t cost much, and it doesn’t take much time either which is even better.

We’re thinking we may start doing it for Halloween and Christmas too because it’s just so much fun!

Until next time!
