Our trip to Mansfield Zoo - Life with the Lamsays

Would it really be us if we had a long weekend and didn’t go somewhere new?

Today we went to Mansfield in Victoria, which is about a two hour drive for us. We left pretty early, and went to the zoo first. They have lots of animals, and Hunter enjoyed having a bucket of food and hand feeding them. They had: kangaroos, monkeys, dingos, lions, emus, alpacas, deer, camels and guinea pigs.

It was like the Red Stag Deer and Emu farm in Eurobin, but with lots more animals. I’d recommend taking your little one if you haven’t been before, as Hunty had a great time running around, and because he’s a bit older now, he was great at holding out his hand flat too.

It was $20 each for us, Hunter is young enough to have free entry, and it was $2.50 for a bucket of feed. With the drive on top of that too, it wasn’t the cheapest day out, but not too bad.

There was a deer there with an injured front leg, which was sad to see, and now that we’ve been there and done it, we wouldn’t race back to do it again. But we had a great morning there, and then we headed into town to grab something to eat and find a playground.

We went to the Mansfield Bakery for pies, and they were really good - Mumma got steak and onion, Mummy got Thai chicken and Hunty had a party pie. Then we walked to the botanic gardens where they had a great playground - it had a little water feature, two flying foxes, and a couple of slides for the little ones. We spent a fair while here before heading home, and Hunter made a couple of little friends there too!

Until next time!
