New owners take over Wodonga dental surgery

I’ve been a dental nurse for 8 years now, and for the majority of that time, I’ve been working at SJ Dental on Beechworth Road in Wodonga, VIC. However, a few months ago, the owners of the business decided to sell after 22 years! The principal dentist, Dr Stephen Jiang, will still be working at the practice on Mondays-Thursdays. However his wife, Dr Wendy Song, has now retired.

The new owners are a couple from Wagga Wagga, NSW, who are also currently working at Marketplace Dental Centre. Dr John Xu and Dr Louise Chew are both highly skilled, Australian trained dentists. They’re dedicated to providing personalised and compassionate dental care to every patient, and they’ve even created a Facebook page too, which is great for sharing information about dental health in general, as well as the surgery itself.

They commence ownership and begin seeing patients from Monday 3rd April. Dr Xu will be working Wednesday’s & Thursday’s, and Dr Chew will be working Monday’s, Tuesday’s & Friday’s.

We have new uniforms, and some new dental nurses starting with us, which is really exciting! As sad as it is to have staff retiring and leaving the practice, it’ll be nice to have some fresh and friendly faces! We’re also still providers for both BUPA & HCF private health funds, so you still get the same benefits if you’re with either of these (two checkups & cleans per year, custom made mouth guards & X-rays with no gap payment). *conditions apply*

Hunter had his first official visit at the start of the month too, as we want to get him used to being in the chair. Although he sits so well in the barbers chair, I wasn’t 100% sure how he’d go. He really enjoyed that the chair went up and down, and he opened really wide so Dr Stephen could count all of his teeth. NO HOLES! Proud dental nurse mama over here!

He was such a good boy, and we’re going to be taking him every 6 months so he’s not scared of being in the chair. And whilst he doesn’t have too many sweets, apart from the occasional lollipop, there’s no harm in keeping a close eye on things.

I definitely recommend checking if you’re eligible for Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Scheme, especially if you receive the Family Tax Benefit payment! This scheme bulk bills kids between the ages of 2-18 for all dental treatment except for OPG X-rays and mouth guards.

If you’d like to make an appointment, please call the surgery between 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday-Friday on (02) 6024 2388. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Until next time!
